Champion

The song "Champion" by Maverick City Music is a powerful anthem that speaks to the victory we have in Christ. It echoes the sentiments found in Romans 8:37, "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." The song and this verse both remind us that we are not just conquerors, but more than conquerors through Christ. 

The lyrics, "You are my champion, Giants fall when You stand, Undefeated, Every battle You’ve won," resonate with the biblical account of David and Goliath. David, a young shepherd boy, was able to defeat the giant Goliath not by his own strength, but by the power of God. This story, found in 1 Samuel 17, is a vivid illustration of how God can use the weak to confound the strong, a theme that is echoed in the song.

The song also speaks to our identity in Christ, "I am who You say I am." This is a powerful affirmation of our identity as children of God, as stated in John 1:12, "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." 

The song's bridge, "When I lift my voice and shout, Every wall comes crashing down, I have the authority, Jesus has given me," is reminiscent of the story of Jericho in Joshua 6. The Israelites, by God's command, shouted and the walls of the city came crashing down. This story, like the song, reminds us of the power and authority we have in Christ.

The song concludes with the lyrics, "I am seated in the heavenly place, Undefeated, With the One who has conquered it all." This mirrors Ephesians 2:6, "And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus." 

The song "Champion" and these Bible verses remind us of the victory we have in Christ, our identity as children of God, and the authority we have been given through Christ. They encourage us to live in the confidence of our victory, identity, and authority in Christ.
