Originally from Memphis, Reddick grew up singing in choirs and writing songs, eventually becoming a worship leader at a church in Memphis before moving to Texas and then Nashville. "You Keep Hope Alive" was inspired by the events in Charlottesville in 2017, and it was co-written with fellow worship pastors Anthony Skinner and Jess Cates.
