This Is Amazing Grace

This Is Amazing Grace by Phil Wickham is a beautiful song that speaks to the power of God’s grace and love. The lyrics remind us of the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us and the power of His love that sets us free. 

The chorus of the song speaks to the power of God’s grace and love: “This is amazing grace, this is unfailing love, that You would take my place, that You would bear my cross, You would lay down Your life, that I would be set free, oh Jesus, I sing for all that You’ve done for me.” This speaks to the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. He took our place and bore our sins so that we could be set free. 

This is echoed in the Bible in Romans 5:8 which says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus’ death on the cross was an act of love and grace that sets us free from our sins. 

The bridge of the song speaks to the power of Jesus’ resurrection: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, worthy is the King who conquered the grave.” This speaks to the power of Jesus’ resurrection and the victory He won over death. This is echoed in 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 which says, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 

This Is Amazing Grace is a powerful reminder of the grace and love of God and the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us. May we never forget the power of His grace and love and the victory He won over death.
