Zeal - In the Bible [Verses & Devotional]

The song Zeal by The Belonging Co. is a powerful reminder of the importance of seeking after God and His presence. The lyrics speak of a longing for more than just a momentary feeling, but a deep desire for the Spirit of God to consume us. This is echoed in Psalm 42:1-2 which says, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”

The chorus of the song speaks of the fire of God burning through us and the refrain of “You, I can’t get enough of You” is a reminder of the power of His presence. This is echoed in Psalm 63:1-2 which says, “O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.”

The bridge of the song speaks of giving God all that we have and allowing Him to take over. This is a reminder of the importance of surrendering to God and allowing Him to take control. This is echoed in Romans 12:1-2 which says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

The song Zeal is a powerful reminder of the importance of seeking after God and His presence. May we all be reminded of the power of His presence and the importance of surrendering to Him.
