For Your Glory And For Me - In the Bible [Verses & Devotional]
We serve a God who is full of glory and majesty. He is the one who created the heavens and the earth, and He is the one who came to earth to save us from our sins. The song “For Your Glory and For Me” is a beautiful reminder of the love and grace that God has for us.
The first verse of the song reminds us of the creation story in Genesis 1:2, “The earth was void and formless, darkness covering the deep. You brooded o’er the waters, for Your glory and for me.” God created the world out of nothing, and He did it for His glory and for us. He created us to be in relationship with Him and to enjoy the beauty of His creation.
The second verse of the song speaks of God’s humility and love for us. It says, “You left your throne in heaven, seated high in majesty. To become a humble servant, for Your glory and for me.” This is a reference to Philippians 2:5-8 which says, “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Jesus left His throne in heaven and became a humble servant for us. He humbled Himself and died on the cross for our sins, so that we could be reconciled to God.
The third verse of the song speaks of Jesus’ sacrifice for us. It says, “Becoming sin for sinners, a curse upon a tree. You cried out it is finished, for Your glory and for me.” This is a reference to 2 Corinthians 5:21 which says, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus became sin for us, so that we could be made righteous in Him. He took the punishment for our sins and cried out “It is finished” so that we could be reconciled to God.
The fourth verse of the song speaks of Jesus’ resurrection. It says, “The tomb was only borrowed, the Light of Men walked free. Overcoming every darkness, for Your glory and for me.” This is a reference to 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 which says, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jesus overcame death and the darkness of sin, so that we could have eternal life.
The bridge of the song is a beautiful reminder of the love and grace that God has for us. It says, “I lift my voice in joyful song, for who you are and what you’ve done. I lift my hands to bless your name, Jesus Christ, my God and King.” We can always turn to God in times of joy and sorrow, and He will always be there for us.
God has done so much for us, and this song is a beautiful reminder of His love and grace. We can always turn to Him in times of joy and sorrow, and He will always be there for us. Let us give thanks to God for His glory and for us.
