William Irvin Matthews is a Christian musician from the United States. He began his career in 2011, with the collaborative album "Hope's Anthem" released by Bethel Music in conjunction with Kingsway Music.
Matthews was born on November 5, 1983, in Detroit, Michigan to a father who was a preacher and a mother who directed a choir. At the age of 12, his family relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he started to develop his songwriting skills. He was baptized at the age of 18. In early 2007, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he attended worship services at the International House of Prayer. Later that year, he moved to Redding, California at the invitation of Kim Walker-Smith, where he met Brian and Jenn Johnson. Matthews was drawn to the church's worship program and remained an active member of the Bethel Church community for several years.
