The band started as part of a youth group at First Baptist Church in Downtown Daytona Beach, Florida, before relocating to Stockbridge, Georgia, where more members joined.

Some members of the band currently serve as ministers for Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia. Over the years, Casting Crowns has captured hearts with their inspiring music and thought-provoking lyrics, winning a Grammy and a Dove Award.
