Mi-Kaisha Masella is a talented and inspiring artist who has captured the hearts of the City Campus youth and young adults community. As singer-songwriter, she hails from Sydney, Australia, and is of mixed heritage, with her mother being Darumbal Aboriginal and South Sea Islander while her father is from Tonga. In addition to building her music career, Mi-Kaisha is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Music, with a minor in Indigenous Studies.
Mi-Kaisha's creative journey has been shaped by the kindness of her community, including both the church and Indigenous communities. Her dream of studying at the prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in New York City came true in 2019, which was a challenging yet transformative experience that strengthened her faith and helped her to discover her true self.
As a proud Aboriginal and Tongan woman, Mi-Kaisha takes great pride in honoring her heritage and ancestors by showcasing her culture and its traditions. She was named National NAIDOC Week Youth of the Year in 2019, which is a testament to how much her community admires her.
Mi-Kaisha believes in the power of music to effect change and open minds to new perspectives. Through her music, she expresses her passion for social justice issues, yearning for fairness and equality in her country.
This year, Mi-Kaisha plans to release her debut single, "Brand New." She is an inspiration to many, not just in church but also in the wider community, using her art and platform to shine a light on causes close to her heart.
