Matt Boswell, the founding pastor of Trails Church in Prosper, Texas, is a highly respected hymn writer and renowned figure in church music.
Boswell has released multiple albums and is recognized for his exceptional songwriting skills, with songs like "Christ the Sure and Steady Anchor" and "Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery" earning critical acclaim. Apart from hymnwriting, Boswell is also well-regarded for his training of worship leaders for church ministry. He authored two books, "Doxology and Theology: How the Gospel Forms the Worship Leader" and "Doxology and Theology: How Worship Works," and founded the ministry Doxology and Theology, which focuses on equipping and encouraging worship leaders in the practice of gospel-centered worship.
Boswell obtained his master's degree in church ministry from Southern Seminary in 2013 and completed his doctorate in Christian worship and biblical spirituality at the same institution in 2020, with his dissertation on Charles Spurgeon's pastoral theology of singing. Prior to founding Trails Church in 2018, Boswell served as a worship pastor at Providence Church in Frisco, Texas (2011-2018), and Fellowship of the Parks in Keller, Texas (2002-2011). Despite teaching at Southern, he continues to serve as the pastor of Trails Church.
Boswell is married to Jamie, and they have four children together - Caden, Avery, Addison, and Cannon.
