Joe L, whose real name is Joel Barnes, comes from Kentucky and is now a songwriter and worship leader at The Shepherd’s Tent in Covington, Georgia. He has a passion for both songwriting and teaching, and he desires to empower others with the necessary skills to create and release their authentic sound. In April 2020, Joe L teamed up with Maverick City to release the song "Promises", which reignited hope and reminded people of God's faithfulness. The song was co-written by Carrington Gaines, Keila Alvarado Merin, Lemuel Marin, Dante Bowe, Aaron Moses, and Joe L himself. It received a nomination for "Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year" in the 2020 GMA Dove Awards.

Joe L has also co-written several other songs, such as "In Spite of Me" by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, "Not Holding Back" by JJ Hairston, and "Ruins" with Maverick City, demonstrating his talent and versatility in the music industry.
