Derek Johnson, an American Christian musician born on March 5, 1987, joined Jesus Culture in 2009. Three years later, he released his first album with the band member, Justin Jarvis, which was called Emerging Voices in 2012.

In 2015, Derek Johnson made a breakthrough in the music industry with the release of his first album, Real Love, under the joint record label of Jesus Culture Music and Sparrow Records. The album successfully made it to the Billboard magazine charts, establishing Derek as one of the prominent Christian musicians in the U.S.
